Steve Barnes, originally from Corpus Christi, Texas, and graduate from The University of Texas at Austin, has been a resident of Atlanta since 1992. Currently Steve is producing a new TV series called HIGH RISE . In addition to creating HIGH RISE, he is also playing the role of the evil “Austin Prescott”. Last summer, Steve played the role of “Gary Monroe” in the new Lifetime series “Drop Dead Diva”. On the big screen, you’ll see Steve this April in “The Joneses” opposite Demi Moore and David Duchovny. Steve’s production company, Barnesology Pictures, signed a movie production deal in October of 2003 with Green Valley Entertainment to produce and star in 3 movies, the first being “No Witness” in the Winter of 2004 with Jeff Fahey, Corey Feldman and Michael Damian. The 2nd movie, Sex & Consequences which stars Corbin Bernsen and Joan Severance, was released in the U.S. on June 19, 2007. During the 2007 TV season, Steve was cast in the recurring role of “Agent Drucker” on the FOX hit “Prison Break”. Steve also guest starred in an episode of “One Tree Hill” on The CW Network in January 2008. In Addition, Steve has appeared in numerous film, television, and commercial projects including “Remember The Titans”; “MTV’s Road Rules”; “Guiding Light”; “Ned & Stacey”; “Losing Grace”; “The Number”; “As The World Turns” “McDonald’s”; “Insanity” and many more.

On the radio dial, Steve hosted Mornings 6-10 am on 92.9 DAVE-FM with CNN’s Holly Firfer from 2004-2006. Prior to that engagement, Steve worked as co-host of “The Morning X on 99X”, Atlanta’s top-rated morning radio show from 1992-2003. During the years that Steve hosted “The Morning X”, he and his co-hosts earned numerous prestigious awards (see list below), including the 2000 “Most Entertaining Morning Show of the Year” award from Atlanta Magazine; 1999 “Major Market Air Talent of the Year” award from Radio and Records; and 1996’s Personalities of the Year award from Billboard.

Musically, Steve created and played drums in the band Grumpy Fish from 1994 to 1999. Grumpy Fish was one of the most requested “cover bands” in the Southeast booking gigs from fraternities to The Georgia Games Opening Ceremonies at The Georgia Dome. Grumpy Fish released a CD “Live at The Georgia Dome” that included 2 original songs in 1995.

Steve is extremely active in his community and makes time for charitable causes whenever possible. Shortly after his father was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy, Steve set up a series of weekly challenge softball games and a yearly celebrity softball game called “The Celebrity Softball Slam”. Steve has raised approximately $250,000 for the fight against muscular dystrophy.
Steve is the CEO and President of Barnes Creative Studios in Atlanta.
In his personal life, Steve has 2 children, Madeline (8) and Mallory (4). Steve is an avid tennis player, golfer, Apple computer freak, complete pop culture sponge, and loves to get his hands on every gadget made.
